The Glossary of Competitive and Elite Sports was prepared by the Finnish Terminology Centre on the initiative of the Finnish Institute of High Performance Sport KIHU. The glossary contains 23 key concepts related to competitive and elite sports.
The content of the concepts is clarified with the help of definitions and complementing notes, which are given in Finnish. The concepts have been given term recommendations in Finnish and equivalents in Swedish and English. The relations between the concepts are also illustrated by two concept diagrams.
In addition to the experts of KIHU, the terminology work was also attended by specialists from the expert group of elite sports, the Finnish Olympic Committee, the Football Association of Finland and Laurea University of Applied Sciences. The terminology work was financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
