Terminology project on government grant activities to continue in spring 2022

In spring 2022, the Finnish Terminology Centre will continue the terminology work, commissioned by the CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd., with the aim of drawing up descriptions for the key concepts related to government grant activities and activities financed by government grants. The aim of the terminology work is to support the development and digitalisation of government grant activities.

The previous phases of the terminology project were carried out in 2018–2021, and the work will continue in spring 2022 with the finalisation of new concepts in Finnish. After that, Swedish and English equivalents for these concepts will be established, and the new concept descriptions will be translated into these languages. The Swedish and English language versions will be the responsibility of the Prime Minister’s Office. The material completed in spring 2022 will supplement the Glossary of Discretionary Government Grant Terms published earlier by the Ministry of Finance, and the new material will be incorporated into the current Glossary to make a new version of it. Additionally, in spring 2022, terminology work for the internal use of the project will be carried out.

The Glossary of Discretionary Government Grant Terms is being worked on by using methods of terminology work. These methods allow for drawing up definitions and term recommendations which reflect the underlying concept system. This, in turn, helps glossary users to understand differences and relations between the concepts.

Questions related to the concepts of the Glossary are being discussed in workshops attended by subject field experts from various ministries, agencies, organisations and associations.
