Most of the terminology work carried out by the Finnish Terminology Centre results in glossaries. The platform of publication of these glossaries varies: many of the glossaries are published on our web pages in PDF format or in our TEPA Term Bank. Some of them can also be found on other platforms, such as the Terminologies tool developed for the Finnish public administration or the Sote-sanastot online service offered by the Finnish institute for health and welfare.

Our glossaries consist of term records (terminological entries) and concept diagrams. Concept diagrams are used to visualise relations between concepts and to illustrate the underlying concept systems on which the definitions of the concepts are based.

In addition to glossaries, the Terminology Centre has published guides and handbooks on the principles and methods of terminology work and the tools used in terminology work.

Guide to Terminology (1st edition 1997, 2nd edition 2001) is a unique work which provides a concise introduction to practical terminology work. The guide is written by Heidi Suonuuti, a former director of the Finnish Terminology Centre.

The Finnish Terminology Centre also publishes twice a year an online magazine called Terminfo that specializes in terminological issues. Most of the articles of Terminfo are in Finnish, but there are many issues which also include articles in English or Swedish. More information can be found on the Terminfo website.

A comprehensive list of the glossaries of the Terminology Centre is available on our Finnish web pages.
