In 2017, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the Finnish Terminology Centre carried out a joint terminology project which resulted in publishing a terminology entitled Luvat ja valvonta -hanke: Palvelukerroksen keskeiset käsitteet, versio 0.8 (Licencing and Supervision Project – central service-layer concepts, version 0.8). In February 2019, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy commissioned from the Terminology Centre a new terminology project, with a view to introducing new concepts to the earlier publication.

Verotussanasto (versio 1.0) (taxation terminology, version 1.0), compiled by the Finnish Terminology Centre on commission by the Tax Administration, was published in March 2019. After the publication, terminology work was continued. The aim of the current work is to introduce to the publication around 70 new concepts related to topics such as tax recovery, taxation on wealth, and self-assessed taxes. The concepts will be provided with descriptions and term usage recommendations in Finnish.

The software company Trimble Solutions (formerly called Tekla) publishes and maintains Tekla Structures glossary, which is a terminology resource accompanying the Tekla Structures building information modelling software. The software and the glossary combine terminology from both construction and IT fields. The glossary provides terms and definitions in English for the central concepts of the software.

Role of the Finnish Terminology Centre in the project

New and updated concepts:

Terminology from the field of electricity and electronics has been added to TEPA Term Bank. All term records from IEC Electropedia that contain Finnish can now be found in TEPA. Electropedia is an open terminology database provided by The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The Vocabulary of Comprehensive Security was first published in 2014 and updated in 2017. In February 2019 the Finnish Terminology Centre TSK and the Security Committee started a terminology project for further updating the vocabulary. Some new concepts shall be added to the vocabulary and a couple of pre-existing definitions updated.

In February 2019, the Finnish Terminology Centre resumed the terminology work, launched in 2018 at the initiative of CSC (IT Centre for Science), which aims at providing descriptions for central concepts related to government subsidies. The terminology work aims to support a project whose objective is to develop and digitalise activities related to government subsidies. The responsibility of the preparation stage of the digitalisation project lies with the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.

MAO/TAO in Finto service
