Nordterm 2021 to be held online

The University of Helsinki has decided that all international conferences are to be organised online until 31 August 2021 when not postponed. Therefore also Nordterm 2021 will be held remotely via Zoom. The date for the event will stay the same.

Nordterm is the Nordic co-operation forum for organizations engaged in terminology work. Every other year, Nordterm arranges an event open for everybody interested in terminology, terminology work and its application in practice. In 2021 Nordterm will be organized by the Finnish Terminology Centre as the acting chair of Nordterm in collaboration with the University of Helsinki.

Nordterm 2021 will be held remotely. A free-of-charge webinar with the theme 'Terminology Work and Information Management' will take place on 1–2 June.

Terminology work related to FTIAs data system

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) commissioned the Finnish Terminology Centre for a terminology project in August 2021. The aim of the project is to support FTIA’s data system Velho by providing definitions for some 20 concepts related to transport infrastructure projects. The terms and concept descriptions will be given in Finnish.

Terminology work for the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency

The Finnish Terminology Centre and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) implemented a terminology project with the aim of providing definitions for concepts related to FTIA's management system. The terminology work was carried out between February and August 2020 and resulted in a terminology intended for FTIA’s internal use. The terminology contains 13 key concepts which have been given definitions and complementing notes in Finnish.

Terminology project on government grant activities to continue until end of 2020

In autumn 2020, the Finnish Terminology Centre will continue the terminology work, commissioned by the CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd., with the aim of drawing up descriptions for the key concepts related to government grant activities and activities supported by government grants. The work is carried out in order to support the development and digitalisation of government grant activities.

The Vocabulary of Information Management in Social Sector – updates and development of maintenance

This summer the Finnish Terminology Centre started a project to update some concept descriptions of client documents defined in the Vocabulary of Information Management in Social Sector, and to develop the maintenance model of the vocabulary and its technical solutions. The project is commissioned by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Terminology for employment service statistics

The Finnish Terminology Centre TSK has started a terminology project commissioned by the Development and Administration centre for ELY Centres and TE Offices, KEHA centre. The aim of the project is to define about 80 concepts on employment services used in the KEHA centre’s data platform solution. The terms and concept descriptions are given in Finnish.

TEPA Term Banks new address is termipankki.fi

The Finnish Terminology Centre TSK’s TEPA Term Bank has a new web address https://termipankki.fi, and the site now uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Changing of the address does not affect the functionality of the website, and users are automatically redirected from the old address to the new site. However, users are recommended to update their bookmarks and links to the new address. Terminology Centre is happy to help with TEPA-related questions at tsk@tsk.fi.
