Terminology work on internal security

The Ministry of the Interior commissioned the Finnish Terminology Centre for a terminology project in February 2022. The aim of the project is to provide definitions for some 50 to 70 concepts related to inner security. The project aims to provide definitions to concepts that are recognized as central among the internal security operators and that are not included in other glossaries. The concepts will be given terms and concept descriptions in Finnish and term equivalents in English.

Terminology work on green areas

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency commissioned the Finnish Terminology Centre for a terminology project in January 2022. The aim of the project is to provide definitions for some 70 concepts related to green areas. The terms and concept descriptions will be given in Finnish.

MAO/TAO ontology updated

The Finnish Terminology Centre and the Finnish Heritage Agency initiated an ontology project in 2019. The project aimed at expanding the Ontology for Museum Domain (MAO/TAO) with concepts related to archeological artefacts. An updated version of the ontology was published in late 2019, after which the project was continued.

Terminology work on records for the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency

In spring 2021 the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency commissioned the Finnish Terminology Centre for a new terminology project. The aim of the project was to choose terms and provide definitions for three records related to the approval of products and materials in the Agency’s projects, thus improving the records management at the Agency.

The terminology work was carried out by terminologists of the Terminology Centre in close collaboration with subject field experts from the Transport Infrastructure Agency. The project was completed in late 2021.

The Finnish Terminology Centre and the University of Helsinki arranged a joint Nordic event, Nordterm 2021, on 1–2 June 2021. The event was organized as a webinar with the theme 'Terminology Work and Information Management'.

Terminology work on TE-digi project continues

Since 2017, the Finnish Terminology Centre has carried out terminology work for the KEHA Centre’s (Development and Administrative Services Centre for public employment services) TE-digi project (project which aims to develop a national digital “meeting place” for the supply and demand for labour). In spring 2021, this work was continued. The work will result in a glossary in which terms, definitions and notes are given in Finnish.

Terminology project on government grant activities to continue in autumn 2021

In autumn 2021, the Finnish Terminology Centre will continue the terminology work, commissioned by the CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd., with the aim of drawing up descriptions for the key concepts related to government grant activities and activities financed by government grants. The work is carried out in order to support the development and digitalisation of government grant activities.
